UGC NET JRF

University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for award of Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. in Indian universities and colleges.

Mode of Examination: CBT (Computer Based Test)
The Test paper will consist of two sections, both the sections will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between the papers.

I10050 The questions in Part – I intends to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the Candidate. 03 hours (180 minutes) without any break. All the questions are compulsory.
II200100 This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.

Note:

1. To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as the correct option.
2. Each question carries 02 (two) marks.
3. For each correct response, the candidate will get 02 (two) marks.
4. There is no negative marking for incorrect response.
5. No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked for Review.
6. The medium of Question Paper shall be in English & Hindi only, except language papers.

UGC-NET Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Master's Degree (or equivalent) in the relevant subject from a recognized university.

• Candidates who are pursuing master’s degree or equivalent course or appearing in the final year of their Master's degree or awaiting results are eligible to apply provisionally.

General/General-EWS: Minimum 55% marks.

OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: Minimum 50% marks.

2. Subject Eligibility

• Candidates should apply in the same subject as their Postgraduate degree or the closest related UGC-NET subject.

• Candidates applying through the 4-year Bachelor's degree route may choose the Ph.D. subject irrespective of their undergraduate discipline, subject to UGC guidelines.

3. Age Limit

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum 30 years
A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central list of OBC available on website: www.ncbc.nic.in) /SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third gender categories and to women applicants.

Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.

Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.
